Happy 2nd Month Birthday!

It is crazy to think that Brian is two months old today!  Time definitely flies when you're having the time of your life!  I took him to the doctor a few days ago and it was both a good & bad experience.  It was great because he's developing the way that he should, and the doctor said that he is really advanced in terms of how alert he is. He now weighs 11 lbs, 4 oz and is 22 inches long. :)  He is officially out of his newborn clothes and diapers.  He's such a big boy now!!  It was a bad experience because he got his first shots.... I cried!  It was so painful to watch my precious baby boy in so much pain, and there was nothing I could do about it.  Vahe will have to take him for his next round of shots - I can't handle it!!

We took Brian to the mall today for the first time. It was a lot of fun bringing him out and watching everyone smile at him and say how cute he is. And, maybe I'm biased, but he is pretty damn cute.  He definitely let us know when it was time to go home, though.....

So, the past two months have been amazing and I can't wait to see what the next few months bring.  Being a mommy rocks!  For your viewing pleasure, I added some of the pictures from his 2-month photo shoot that I did this morning. :)

Crying It Out

Ok - being a mom is amazing. I love every minute I spend with Brian. But, let's not kid ourselves... being a mom is hard and frustrating at times.  It seems I have spoiled him already. That's my job, right?  Maybe not so much.  It seems that the only way Brian will go down for a nap is if I hold him, cuddle him or rock him.  Then once he is asleep, I'm able to put him down.  Most times he stays asleep, but other times, every single time I put him down - he wakes up and starts crying.  As soon as I pick him up, he stops. And goes back to sleep. It's a vicious cycle.  So, the past few days, I have started to put him down and tried letting him "cry it out". It's not working so well. I know it won't happen overnight, but geeeeez is it exhausting!!  I know that it will pay off in the long run, but wow is it tough right now.  This will get better right? RIGHT?!?! :)

My First Mother's Day!

I had a wonderful first Mother's Day!!  I woke up on Sunday morning and pulled my sweet little boy into bed with me while Daddy was downstairs making breakfast!  He made me an omelet, biscuits, a fresh fruit medley and a mimosa. He brought it up on a tray so that we could have breakfast in bed!  It was great!!   What a way to start the day!

My parents came over and Mom and I planted flowers outside.  It was fun, but tiring!!  Vahe grilled out (yummy!!) and my dad got to take Brian on a walk around the neighborhood.  The weather was perfect and we really had a great day.  :)

It was so much fun celebrating my first Mommy's Day, but it was also awesome to see my mom get her first Mother's Day as a Grandma!!!!  I have always appreciated my Mom and everything she has done for me, but now that I am a mom, I appreciate her on a whole new level.  Being a mom now, I see things so differently. She gave me a card that said it so well.....

"Daughter, you're a mother now and you know what it's like to hold a little someone in your arms and realize you would give up your own life to protect this precious being.  You're a mother now, and you know what it's like to look into a little face and see a trust so complete your heart aches with the responsibility.  Now you know the feelings of a love so deep it goes beyond anything you could have imagined.  Now you're a mother, too."  SO TRUE!!!!

Thanks to Vahe, Brian, Mom and Dad, I had the most wonderful Mother's Day. :)  And thanks, Mom, for everything you've ever done for me.  I love you so much!!

I hope all of the moms reading this had just as wonderful of a day!!  Cheers to all of us!

Love,
Lauren

Letting His Personality Show!

It has been so much fun the past week or so... Brian is really starting to show his personality!  He is starting to "coo", smile, giggle and show so many facial expressions.  He is the happiest in the morning after his breakfast bottle, and that's also the time that we're able to capture the best pictures (well, most of the time!)  He has been alert since the day he was born, always looking at us, following our voices and truly looking like he is always thinking or wanting to say something. It's just getting better and better every day!

Right now, I am singing his ABCs to him everyday and he loves it!! His eyes get really big and he smiles when I sing it to him.  He's also getting a lot of tummy and back time, which he loves.  I had a talk with him the other day (haha) and he is excited about playing baseball one day.  He said he either wants to play left field or short stop. :)  Mommy asked him nicely not to be a catcher... it's so bad on the knees!  Another big deal - he is finally starting to grow into his clothes!! YAY!!!!!  He's filling out that skinny little body and actually fattening up. :)  Makes it so much more fun with the clothes we can put on him!

Alright, gotta get back.  We're actually going to attempt to do yard work today! Yippee!!!

Happy Saturday,
Lauren

My Pride and Joy

Hi everyone!  I am really sorry I haven't updated this in a long time.  I have gotten yelled at by a few people that they've been waiting patiently for an update.... and that I really needed to get on here and do it.  So, this is me - updating all of you on the most precious little boy, who has been so amazing the past 5 1/2 weeks.  Let's see - where do I start?

Brian is doing really well - he is letting us sleep at night (usually about 4-5 hours at a time), he's on a regular feeding schedule (which makes it a lot easier for me to plan my day) and he's such a happy baby.  He definitely is fiesty at times, which he clearly gets from me! hahaha!

Some fun things about Brian so far:
-He has turned over twice on his own, the first time being at 2 weeks!
-He is smiling and cooing - which I absolutely love. It's so cute!!!
-He was 8 lbs, 80z and 21 inches long at his 1-month appointment. The doctor said that he was acting more like a 2-month old because of how alert he is.
-His favorite thing to do is look out our big windows .... he seriously can sit in front of the window for hours, just looking at the outside world.  :)
-He is losing his hair. Yes, that head full of black hair is slowly going away.  It'll be interesting to see if he loses it all or if he has a "patchy" head of hair! LOL
-He loves tummy time, his pacifier and reading books (ok - looking at the pictures while mommy and daddy read them)

As far as I go, I am starting to feel human again. Recovery has been a hard and long process, one that I am still going through.  It's been almost 6 weeks since I delivered and I am probably at 80% now.  I'm able to get out of the house, run errands, go shopping, get coffee, etc.  It's so nice to have things get back to some sense of normalcy.  However, it's quite different now - the concept of just getting in the car and going is long gone.  It's much more of a chaotic process now! haha.  I go to the doctor this week, so hopefully I will get the "all clear" to start slowly working out again. I miss it so much!

Well, that's about as good of an update as I can give right now without it being really, really, really long.  I promise that I will be better about updating this!  Now that I have a pretty good schedule set now, I'll be able to have two free hands to update.

Love,
Lauren
